Bainbridge Island Real Estate

Bainbridge Island, Washington, in Kitsap County, was incorporated: August 23, 1947 as  the City of Winslow which annexed the unincorporated areas of the Island on February 28, 1991 and renamed the city.  Since the 1960s, Bainbridge Island has become an increasingly affluent bedroom community of Seattle, with a median family income of $83,000.

The island is located in the central Puget Sound basin, east of the Kitsap Peninsula and a scenic 30 minute ferry ride west of the City of Seattle. It is approximately five miles wide and ten miles long, and is one of the larger islands in Puget Sound.

The population was 23,080, in 2007. The city is also known for its excellent school district, consistently rated near to, or at, the top of the state.
